This page holds information about the Skateboard Park Event

Dawn Hurton, EDC Children & Young people's Office, Leisure Services, EDC has organised a series of 'taster' events for young people at Penrith Skateboard Park on Sunday 26th April.

Background:
- Young people had approached Dawn complaining they were bored. Suggestion was that the skateboard park could be used more innovatively, eg. as a venue for a range of other activities that might appeal to a range of different interests. In addition, CDRP have become aware that some youngsters have been hanging about the skateboard park with nothing to do. Asking for young people's opinions on what interests them will help the Council develop appropriate services.
- Large numbers of young people are now aware that a series of different events have been organised and will take place at the skateboard park. Up to 500 young people are expected to attend.

Actions.
1. Anna to contact Dawn and Sarah and anyone else who deals with young people to ask them to identify some young people who are willing to be trained as citizen journalists on 19th April, and able to attend the Skateboard Park event on 26th April in order to gather opinions from other young people about the events. 4-6 young people are needed for this.
2. Dawn identified Young Cumbria as a group who might be interested in finding young people
3. Contacted Mara Krupowski, Manager, who indicated willingness to support the project
4. Contacted Andy Murray, who is a youth worker attached to Young Cumbria, and involved in developing digital arts. He is doing some filming work with around 15 young people and is very happy to support the project. He will be in the Gambia filming for a week so will miss the skateboard park events, however, he is happy to work with Steve as an intermediary in order to support young people building content on the Eden Media website
